SUSPENDED ANIMATION was created during the LUMINOUS BODIES artist residency at ArtScape Gibraltar Point. I experimented with layering video and projecting a video over a simple installation - at the time I was working with ideas of uncovering physical anatomy through perforamative action, and working with installations that referenced the physicality of bodies. I worked for a long time with this cluster of hanging forms, which later became a reoccurring theme in my drawings. These images show two of the drawings that I did at ArtScape, studying the installation, video stills and the subsequent small abstract drawings based on the hanging forms.
My background in drawing always emerges when working in installation, sometimes as small study drawings, other times as play between the relationship of surface and object.
